“Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance”….. is a true statement. We have many goals and things we will like to accomplish in our personal life and business throughout the year. To make the most of planning our time, we need a way to keep organized and on top of all the millions things that we want to accomplish and get done. Having To-Do List will enable you to plan your day more effectively and will eliminate the thought of “Now, what did I need to get done today…” . Have you ever felt that way? I will be the 1st to raise my hand because truly I have felt that way many times before in the past. But, once I started taking time out to properly plan was when I started to get organized and my productivity increased.
Goal planning is a written process of action steps to help you be more productive and to get things done. I don’t know about you, but as a strategic entrepreneur, I am most productive when I follow a list of things I need to do on a day to day basis. I am better organized when I know what I want to get done and when I am going to do it.
You need at least 2 list: a Master List and a Daily To-Do list, but I use several list that helps me stay focused on my goals throughout the year.
Here are 4 List To Stay Organized & Increase Productivity
1. Master List
This is a list of all the things you want to accomplish and need to do in the future. This list includes every new idea, projects and task that you will like to get to at some point. I combine my Master List with goals for both my personal and business life. My Master List also list a lot of the creative ideas I come up with and new projects I want to complete. Every time I think of things I need to do, I write them down on my Master List. If I need to do something that same day, I transfer those things to my Daily List of To-Do’s.
2. Monthly List
I like to develop a monthly list at the end of each month for the month ahead. Transfer items from your Master list or from the list that you didn’t quite get a chance to complete from month to month. The beginning of the year is a great time to visualize the whole year and set your goals month by month working toward those goals.
3. Weekly List
Plan your entire week in advance. On Sunday night, I take a few minutes to schedule out my week with the day I plan to complete each task. Once you know what you want to accomplish each month, break the task into weekly realistic goals. Map out times frames into your daily calendar then take action. Hold yourself accountable by checking off things that you have completed on your calendar. This will help you eliminate procrastination as you progress forward.
4. Daily List
Plan out your day. If you don’t run your day, your day will run you. Write out your To-Do list the night before and prioritize your list by order of importance. I plan out my Income Producing Activities in the early part of the day. Also, any other task that requires a lot of my energy.
Daily planning helps you know exactly what you are going to accomplish each day and what you truly intend to get done that day. Schedule your To-Do’s on your Daily List and the action steps you need to take to accomplish your goals.
