What Is A Brand?

Branding goes far beyond logos, colors, and your tagline.

A brand is simply what identifies you and your products/services.  It should be something that’s easily recognized and that makes you unique.  Your signature style, personality, and how you interact with others are all tied to your overall brand.

Branding is being able to articulate…

  • Who you are and what you do.
  • What you have to offer.
  • What your brand is about.
  • What is your niche.

First, get clear what your brand is all about and craft your unique message to reach your target audience and clients.

Building your brand helps you demonstrate your value to your target audience.

  • Identify your target market and what you have to offer. Get clear on who you serve (your target market & ideal client), what are their problems (their struggles), and what you do (solution to how you solve your target market’s problems).

5 Ways To Build Your Brand

1. Share Your Story

Story telling reveals what makes your message unique and it builds trust. It connects you to your audience and creates conversations. I started being transparent and sharing my story of how I went from school teacher to working full time online from home.  After sharing my story, I started attracting more people who related to my story and were inspired to pursue their dreams as well. Craft your story in the content your create, whether it’s through blog post, videos or photos. Share why you started your company and why you’re passionate about your brand.

2. Be Unique

What makes you unique? Be different from your competition so that you can attract the right clients and prospects. Getting them to understand your value and what you have to offer. So, build your brand around your personality, knowledge, and expertise. Find creative ways to incorporate your uniqueness into your brand….standing out from the crowd.

3. Use Social Media

Using social media is a great way to engage with potential clients and build relationships. It allows your target audience a chance to see your products/services before deciding to make a purchase. Use social media platforms to increase your visibility and catch the attention of your audience.

  • Setup websites/blogs. This will position you as an expert in your industry.
  • Create social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Periscope, etc.
  • Networks in social media groups where your ideal clients and target audience hangs out. Participate in the conversations and share useful information.

TIP: You do not have to be on all social media platforms to be effective.

4. Content

Content marketing is one of my favorite strategies to build my brand online. The idea is to create valuable content that inspire, engage, educate, and propels your target audience to take action. You can share content via text, quotes, audio, and/or video. Instagram and Pinterest are great for sharing images and pictures to get more exposure to your brand.

5. Be Consistent

Consistency is key. Make your brand consistent on all platforms. That includes your brand colors, brand message, fonts, and personality. If you are consistent with your branding, then your target audience will be able to recognize your brand.
