To succeed with building a business online you will need an online presence.  If you are new to starting an online business, there are 5 basic ways your customers/clients can find you online.

I have been doing business online since 2011…. and, through the years, technology constantly changed. So many new tools, systems, and techniques were created.  But, one thing that stayed consistent was the main basic platforms…  which are your website, content, and your offer.

5 Ways To Develop An Online Presence

1. Website/Blog

A website is your foundation to building your online empire (this should be your main platform on the web).  Not just your capture pages. This could be a platform such as your blog or eCommerce store. A place where your customers/clients can go to learn more about your products/services. But, before you start a website, whether you hire a designer or build it yourself, first decide your goal for being online.

Blogging is one the most powerful techniques to build and sustain your business and brand online.  In fact, blogging gives you a place to create valuable content that attracts more clients and customers. Providing an opportunity for your business to communicate and build meaningful relationships. Also, to promote your products & services. Content is King.

2. Products/Services (Your Offer)

Whether you are creating your own products/services or promoting someone else’s, make sure it solves a problem. Offer something people want to buy.  No need to waste your time trying to promote something no one is interested in. You’re time is valuable and the main goal for doing business online is to make a profit.

3. Branding

Branding is necessary to stand out in a crowded marketplace. It is how you separate yourself from your competitions. Branding is much more than logos, colors, and taglines.  It’s a combination of your interest, your beliefs, your message, your specialty, talents and skills. Your brand is you, your product, and what makes you unique. Create what you value through your brand and share your story.

4. Social Media

Social Media is a goldmine. There are so many platforms that your customers/clients might be searching to find your business. Social media sites such as… Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Pinterest. The key to social media is to build relationships, connect, and grab the attention of your target audience driving traffic back to your website. Social media does not have to be overwhelming. Get a handle on social media by creating a social media strategy. With just a few minutes a day, you can schedule the tasks you plan to do daily using social media to grow your business.

5. Email List (List Building)

One of the most valuable assets in business is your list. When you drive people to your website, one of your goals should be to capture the data of your leads by getting them to become email subscribers.  This is where your opt in form comes into play.  Now, every visitor to your website/blog will not voluntarily leave their name and email address without them getting something in return.  This is when you offer a freebie-give away or something of value in exchange. Once a subscriber is on your list, you are able to stay in touch, build a relationships, and offer more value to your potential clients and customers. You now have targeted loyal followers.

BONUS: You Must Have Traffic!

Traffic is the key. If you don’t have traffic, nothing else matters. You will just have a pretty website, pretty branded material, inspiring social media post,,, but, with no visitors. Your goal should be to get as many eyeballs looking at content, your offer, product, or service…. then, a systematic way to turn prospects into buyers. Building an online presence can be fun and rewarding.
