Coaching/Consulting is a service based business, so you will be providing your time to help others solve a problem and achieve their goals.The greatest joy of running your own coaching business is to have the privilege of seeing your clients improve and grow stronger in a specific area. I started my own coaching practice years ago and absolutely loved it. I worked with many clients 1-on-1 sessions. Now, I do very limited private consulting work. Group coaching through workshops, webinars, and courses has been a great way for me to reach more people at one time.
That’s the beauty of starting your own coaching/consulting business. You get to choose how you work with your amazing clients… 1-on-1 or Group coaching…. and how often. You set your own time and schedule. Especially with the internet and technology, you can work from the comfort of your home (or anywhere you choose).
Depending on your specialization, there are many opportunities in the coaching field.

What is Coaching?
Coaching is simply assisting another person in getting to a desired result. It is the process of helping the client perfect their problem through step-by-step guidance and support……shining a light on the clients strengths. A coach offers a different type of relationship altogether. Coaches are the cheerleader and focuses on the client.
What is Consulting?
A consultant is an expert in a specific area. They have already mastered the process and figured out the most efficient way to do it. Consultants will typically assess what the clients has been doing so far and provide them with a detailed plan on how to do it correctly, complete with a step by step process. Consultants focus on the problem.
How To Start A Coaching/Consulting Business
Coaching/Consulting is a low-startup cost business model that can be rewarding with a high return on your investments. In order to be successful at it, you must take it seriously. The goal is to be profitable.
1. Setup your coaching practice: Develop a plan, systems, and strategies so that your business will run smoothly. Know the processes of how you will take in new clients and the step-by-step process in assisting the client. Example: questionnaire and assessment sheets. Also, online scheduling tools are a big way to save time and collect payments.
2. Client attraction: Know your target market/ideal client. Your target market is not everybody. Your gifts and talents are meant to help a select group of people in the world. Be about your business working toward attracting them to you using tools such as social media.
3. Develop coaching skills: Get training or take a course on how to be a great coach/consultant that people want to work with. You need problem solving, time management, and communication skills. Also, the ability to understand what the clients is wanting then to help them get results.
4. Market your business: Let people know that you are in business. Promote yourself and your business on social media, use video, place banner ads, and also meetup groups in your community.
5. Build your client base: Get referrals and testimonials from people you’ve already worked with to grow your business. Provide your clients with tools and resources to help them get to the next level.
Tip: Coaching/Consulting is not a good fit for you if you DO NOT like helping people. ~just sayin’ 🙂 People Hire Coaches To Help Them Get From Where They Currently Are To Where They Want To Be.
