10 Ways To Drive Traffic To Your Blog Using Social Media

By September 14, 2016January 7th, 2022Business

One area that many businesses tend to struggle with when building an online business is… traffic. Traffic generation is one of the keys to building a successful business online. There are many ways to drive traffic to your blog/website/offer, but today I will focus on using social media.
Social media is a gold mine to boost your blog traffic and attract visitors to your blog …. if utilized in the proper way. Avoid the trap of spending a great deal of time and money perfecting a blog that looks awesome, but doesn’t get seen by the people who are looking for what you have to offer. So many bloggers waste time, energy, and even money producing great content, but fail when it comes to generating traffic.

There are tons of blogs on the web. Over 100 million and growing. You will be amazed at the fact that, some of the plainest blogs out there are the ones that get loads of consistent traffic. This is true because they understand how to create valuable, useful content and share it on social media. You don’t want any ole traffic either… focus your social media marketing strategy on laser targeted traffic who can also become buyers of your products/services.

10 Strategies To Drive Traffic To Your Blog Using Social Media

1. Share Blog Link In Twitter

Tweet your blog post to your Twitter followers. As of date, Twitter is like my 1st go-to social media platform when sharing my blog post. Add relevant hashtags in your tweet to get more exposure. With Twitter, you can use social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Twitterfeed…. to schedule out your tweets. You can also link your blog so that every time you create a new blog post it will automatically be sent out to your Twitter profile.  twitter.com/ericamathews1

2. Send Out Email Broadcast To Your List

Once you write your blog post, send it out to your email list.  This will inform your email subscribers that a new article has been uploaded to your blog. This will help keep your email subscribers updated with fresh new content… providing value to your list. And, also drive more traffic back to your blog.

3. Comment On Other Blogs

Comment on high profile blogs within your niche or similar industry. Because most bloggers have a feature on their blog that will list your blog’s URL with your comment -such as Disqus. Just make certain that you are leaving valuable and engaging comments that add to the conversation. You can also guest post on other related blogs.

4. Add Social Sharing Tools On Your Blog

One tool I currently use is Flare. It allows you to combine sharing options via Twitter, Facebook, email, and social bookmarking sites into one tool. An example of Flare is at the top right and bottom left of this post. (Technology changes and improves often, so this is what I’m using as of date).  I share more current and up to date online tools on my resource page.

5. Write Catchy Headlines

Make your headline interesting enough so people will want to click, read, and also share. You can use tools such as title generators. I also wrote a blog post 74 Post Titles/Headlines That Grab Attention.  These are headline ideas for your blog post titles and also to help you come up with a title for your products.

6. Post Your Blog Post In Groups

Join blogging communities and groups on social media sites.  Joining groups on social platforms will further extend your reach, but just be certain to join relevant groups as it relates to your content. Start creating relationships with people on social sites. Share links of valuable information from your blog post. Don’t just become a professional spammer. I know that we can be super busy-running our business, but every now and then, participate and be helpful by answering questions.

7. Add Your Blog Link On Social Media Sites

You should have at least one profile on major social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn… at least one. Find out where you target audience hangs out then provide valuable content for them. Add your blog link in the about section of your profile. When people are wanting to find out more about you, they will click on the link which should take them back to your blog or your offer.

8. Utilize LinkedIn Groups

Post your blog via relevant LinkedIn Groups. This is one of my favorites. I love the energy and mindset of people that I connect with on LinkedIn. Sharing your blog post in Linkedin groups is a great way to get more engagement. Your LinkedIn account enables you to link your blog to your profile as well.  linkedin.com/in/ericamathews

9. Make Your Blog Post SEO friendly

When you write your blog post, optimize the title and images for SEO. Add the blog title in title section and add a description. Use relevant keywords or keyword phrases. This process will help your post get noticed by search engines.

10. Syndicate Your Blog Post

Syndication is a great way to get more exposure and drive traffic back to your blog. It allows you to spread your content across many directories…social networks and social bookmarketing sites such as Stumbleupon, Reddit, Delicious, Alltop, and Networkedblogs.

BONUS: Pinterest

Not only is Pinterest a great platform to drive traffic to your blog,  it is also a place to discover new ideas for content marketing. Pin and share your blog images on Pinterest.  I wrote a blog post Pinterest For Business.

These are just a few strategies that you can start implementing today that will increase your blog traffic.
